The Sacrifice of Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller

Lt. Col. Scheller has been relieved of duty. I support his removal, even while I applaud his stand on principle and agree with his decision to go public with this video. I agree with him 100% and wish him tremendous success in the future.

When a member of our military speaks out publicly in criticism of those in command there should be significant personal risk for at least two reasons:

1. Speaking out when the speaker and the audience both know there will be serious consequences for the speaker validates the credibility and integrity of the speaker.

2. Allowing military personnel to publicly criticize command with no consequence would also embolden “woke” military members to frivolously whine publicly and corrupt the public confidence as well as the morale of other military members.

It is ironic that the only member of the military I know of that’s been fired related to current events is an honorable marine who stood on principle at great personal risk to request accountability. Had those he addressed already resigned or been fired there would have been no need for him to take that risk and sacrifice his career.
